I have tried to make homemade laundry soap and I love it!!! I have told a couple of people about it and they asked if I'd post the recipe. I 1/2 the recipe when I make it because I don't have enough room for two 5 gallon buckets. Here's the recipe and I took pictures of the items needed and the process. Oh, and a cute boy helping too.
1 bar of Ivory soap
1/2 c. of 20 Mule Team Borax
1 cup of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (different than baking soda)
Shred soap into small bits into a pot with 5 cups of water. Bring water almost to a boil and stir until soap is completely melted. When soap is melted pour 3 gallons of hot water plus the soap mixture into a 5 gallon bucket. Once thoroughly stirred add washing soda stir until dissolved. Once dissolved add borax and stir until dissolved. Pour equally into 2 large 5 gallon buckets. Fill the 2 buckets with water and cover and let sit overnight. It will gel so be sure to stir it to break up any lumps before you pour into the machine.
I use 1/2 cup per load. This soap doesn't sud so you won't see bubbles. I really like it and I think it cleans very well. Enjoy!!!
How lucky are we??

Hi Kim, Now you are like Michelle Duggar, ya know, the lady with the 18 kids. She makes her own laundry soap too. I am only brand loyal to two things when I go shopping. They are Tide original scent and april fresh Downy. I would be willing to try the soap but is there anything I could add to make it smell like Tide? Oh I forgot to tell you...I have a blog now too... It is medleyofmathisons.blogspot.com Let me know what you think of it.
