I have tried to make homemade laundry soap and I love it!!! I have told a couple of people about it and they asked if I'd post the
recipe. I 1/2 the
recipe when I make it because I don't have enough room for two 5 gallon buckets. Here's the
recipe and I took pictures of the items needed and the process. Oh, and a cute boy helping too.
1 bar of Ivory soap
1/2 c. of 20 Mule Team Borax
1 cup of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (different than baking soda)
Shred soap into small bits into a pot with 5 cups of water. Bring water almost to a boil and stir until soap is completely melted. When soap is melted pour 3 gallons of hot water plus the soap mixture into a 5 gallon bucket. Once
thoroughly stirred add washing soda stir until dissolved. Once dissolved add borax and stir
until dissolved. Pour equally into 2 large 5 gallon buckets. Fill the 2 buckets with water and cover and let sit overnight. It will gel so be sure to stir it to break up any lumps before you pour into the machine.
I use 1/2 cup per load. This soap doesn't sud so you won't see bubbles. I really like it and I think it cleans very well. Enjoy!!!

Borax

Washing Soda (it's in the laundry aisle)

I bought a 4 pack and already used one when I took the pic.

Bud grating the soap :)

Melting the soap on the stove

Bud stirring the mixture

The mixture after stirred and dissolved
(It was a little sudsy here because my helper tried to make whirlpools in the mixture)

This is after it sat overnight. See how it gels I haven't it yet so I haven't stirred it :)
